How about Henry Bates' The Naturalist on the Amazons? There's a cool illustration entitled "Turtle fishing and adventure with alligator" in chapter 11.

Wouldn't want to be restricted to the Amazons. But have you heard one of my favorite blues songs of all time, "Prowling Nighhawk?" In any case there will be lots on Bates--and Wallace--on this new entry theme.
